Montenegro collected their second straight victory in Group D of the U18 European Championship in beating Russia 69-63 to reach the Second Round.

Petar Popovic scored 22 points while Zoran Nikolic had 11 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocks for Montenegro. Aleksa Ilic added 13 points and nine rebounds in the win.

Russia dropped third straight game despite Vladislav Staratelev scoring 19 points.

Turning point: Russia led 53-48 with six minutes left before going on a 15-7 run to open a 68-55 advantage with two minutes to play.

Game Hero: In addition to scoring 22 points, Popovic also picked up five rebounds, one assist and two steals.
