Serbia Make Easy Work Of Germany

Nikola Jankovic inspired the third-quarter run that changed the flow of the game and led all Serbia scorers with 16 points

Serbia had no troubles going two-and-zero at the Samsung U18 European Championship, defeating Germany 83-54 in Group A action on Friday night.

Leading by six-points at half-time, Serbia's Nikola Jankovic asserted his dominance under the basket early in the third quarter, scoring eight quick points to inspire a 16-2 run.

It inflicted a severe dent in Germany's confidence, as Kay Blumel's men managed to hit just one shot from the floor in the frame.

The situation was no better for the Germans in the final quarter as they again managed to convert just one shot from the floor, making it two for the half.

Jankovic finished the game as leading scorer with 16 points.

Luka Andusic added 15 whilst Dustan Ristic and Nikola Cvorovic chipped in with 10 apiece.

Ismet Akpinar topped scoring for Germany with 12 points.

Germany take on Ukraine in Saturday to see who will claim the final group A ticket to the Second Round whilst Serbia fight it out with Spain who top-of-the-group honours.
